About

Who you would actually be working with

Paulo Marques. Twenty years in sales, channel development and marketing, most of it spent making foreign products sell in Brazil — the last seven working directly with Chinese companies.

I spent two decades inside the Brazilian commercial chain — distributors, resellers, retail and e-commerce — in roles directly accountable for revenue, margin, channels and growth. That included national sales management for an international manufacturer, and channel and marketing roles across technology, consumer electronics, computer hardware, printing, gaming and photography.

The last seven years have been spent working directly with Chinese companies: understanding what they need from the Brazilian market, why an approach that works in another market fails here, and where the gap usually is between a good product and an actual distributor agreement.

In 2024 I accompanied a group of 20 clients across Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai. Travel in 2023 and 2024 also built practical familiarity with local business logistics, WeChat, Alipay and digital connectivity. This is first-hand travel experience, not a claim of Mandarin fluency or residency.

Why local Brazilian experience matters

The hardest challenges Asian companies face in Brazil are usually commercial: channel structure, price positioning, purchasing cycles, payment expectations and what distributors will actually execute. That perspective comes from more than twenty years working inside the Brazilian market.

Clear, verifiable professional history

You are evaluating an individual professional, not a large firm. That should make verification easier, not harder — here is everything you need to check before committing to anything.

Response time

I normally respond to business enquiries within one working day.

Working hours are 09:00–18:00 Brasília time (UTC-3). China Standard Time is 11 hours ahead, so a message sent at the end of your working day is normally answered while you sleep.

How to verify who you are dealing with

  • Professional history and previous roles are public on LinkedIn, with dates and companies you can cross-check.
  • A video call before any agreement is expected, not exceptional — you should see and hear the person you would be hiring.
  • Every engagement starts with a written scope and a written agreement. Nothing begins on a verbal understanding.

Ask for anything else you need to verify — it will be provided.
